Commemorative banknotes


(November, 29 2013 issue)

Features:

  • Dimensions: 66 x 133 mm;
  • Predominant colours, the front and the reverse side: pink, violet, orange, and ochre;
  • Printing number: 200 000 copies.

 

The front side of the banknote: The Coat of Arms of the Republic of Moldova, the name of the issuing bank BANCA NAŢIONALĂ A MOLDOVEI", the inscription REPUBLICA MOLDOVA", „ŞTEFAN CEL MARE“, „20 DE ANI“, the portrait of Ştefan cel Mare, a national multicoloured ornament, three vertical decorative elements, the central rosette, the nominal value written in figures and words, the abbreviation "BNM", the facsimile GUVERNATOR, D. Drăguţanu", the circle wording "PE-UN PICIOR DE PLAI, PE-O GURA DE RAI...", victory token - V", the year of banknote issuance "2013", the banknote number and series, the inscription FALSIFICAREA ACESTOR BILETE SE PEDEPSEŞTE CONFORM LEGILOR".

The reverse side of the banknote: The graphic image of Chişinău Mayoralty within a frame and under it the inscription "Primaria Municipiului Chişinău", the nominal value written in figures and words, three vertical decorative elements, the Coat of Arms of Ştefan cel Mare, the stylised images of the Column of Traian, the Column of Infinity and between them a crescent moon, the name of the issuing bank "BANCA NAŢIONALĂ A MOLDOVEI", the abbreviation "BNM".

 

 Security features:

  • Watermark, The watermark is placed on the right blank side of the banknote and represents the portrait of Ştefan cel Mare, directed towards the centre, which becomes visible if seen against light.
  • Security thread, The metallic security thread is embedded between the left vertical decorative element of the banknote and the central rosette, which becomes visible if seen against light.
  • See-through feature, On the blank right side of the banknote, the figure "200" is printed in the same place on the front and back side of the banknote, so that when viewed through the transparency and held against light, the entire figure is seen. Inside the circle within which the text „PE-UN PICIOR DE PLAI, PE-O GURA DE RAI... “ is printed, the outline of the pattern of the sun on the front side and of the crescent moon on the reverse side, as well as the circle of the sun and the circle within which the crescent moon is depicted, coincide perfectly when viewed through the transparency and held against light. The letter "V" on the front side and the Column of Trajan and the Infinite Column depicted on the reverse side combined together create a letter "M" (Moldova) when viewed through the transparency and held against light.
  • Microlettering, On the front side of the banknote, in the central part, the inscription „20 DE ANI BNM“,is printed with small characters, followed by the face value. On the outline of the circle, where the text „PE-UN PICIOR DE PLAI, PE-O GURA DE RAI... “ is placed, the inscription „BNM 2013“ is printed with small characters.
  • Raised print, The inscriptions „ŞTEFAN CEL MARE“, „REPUBLICA MOLDOVA“, „BANCA NAŢIONALĂ A MOLDOVEI“, „20 DE ANI“, figure „200“ and the portrait of Ştefan cel Mare are raised printed. On the front side of the banknote, in the central part, the years „1993“ and „2013“ are printed in invisible raised printing effect.
  • Ultraviolet feature,  On the blank right side of the banknote, a rectangle is placed containing the inscription „BNM“ and „BNM“ logo, visible only in ultraviolet light. The national multicoloured ornament, vertical decorative elements, central rosette on the front side of the banknote appear yellow in ultraviolet light, and the filings incorporated into the paper of the banknote appear in red and blue colours.
