The NBM Governor had a meeting with the French Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova

 


The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, had a meeting today with the Ambassador of France to the Republic of Moldova, Pascal Le Deunff.

The agenda focused on the importance of signing by the Republic of Moldova the new program with the International Monetary Fund, the macrofinancial situation in the Republic of Moldova, the evolution of reforms in the banking sector and the measures taken by the NBM to counteract the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NBM Governor, Octavian Armașu, mentioned the significance of the European Union's support to the Republic of Moldova for mitigating the impact of the health and economic crisis, appreciating also the openness of the Bank of France for providing advice and technical support in the field of central banking.

In his turn, the Ambassador of France, Pascal Le Deunff, noted the beneficial results of the banking sector reforms in the Republic of Moldova, stating that it is essential to preserve the independence of the central bank - a primary condition for expected progress and financial stability. Pascal Le Deunff reaffirmed the France's support for the continuation of reforms in the banking sector of the Republic of Moldova and its European path.
