On 27 March 2018, the NBM Governor, Sergiu Cioclea, made a visit to the National Bank of Romania, together with the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Andrian Candu.
The officials from Chisinau discussed with the leadership of the National Bank of Romania the progress registered in the field of reforming the financial-banking sector, the positive results of the recent IMF’s evaluation mission, the implementation of the new banking Law adopted by the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on the basis of the European Twinning Program’s recommendations, successfully led by the central banks of Romania and the Netherlands. the The NBR Governor, Mugur Isarescu, reconfirmed the availability and willingness of the institution to continue supporting the reforms in the Republic of Moldova both within bilaterally or in European format.
During the meeting, Sergiu Cioclea and Mugur Isarescu have exchanged coins launched by the two central banks on 27 March 2018 to celebrate 100 years since the unification of Bessarabia with Romania. The set offered by the National Bank of Romania [1] will be exhibited in the museum of the National Bank of Moldova. The officials highlighted the privileged relationship between the NBM and the NBR and the support of Romania offered to the Republic of Moldova at international level, especially within the IMF and World Bank constituencies.
