Briefing held by Ion Sturzu, Deputy Governor of the NBM, on public consultations related to MDL 1 and MDL 2 coin design
The consultations may involve legal entities and individuals who have reached the age of 16. Participants may present one concept for each type of coin. The concept shall obligatorily contain at least one subject of a relevant field for illustrating coins. The original and well-founded concepts will be selected, which offer the possibility of engraving them on the surface of a coin.
The winners will be determined by an evaluation committee created by the NBM. All in all, six concepts will be selected, two for each winning-position, which will consist of silver commemorative and jubilee coins: 1st Prize - “20 years since the introduction of the national currency in the Republic of Moldova [1]”; 2nd Prize - “1900 years since the inauguration of Trajan’s Column [2]” and 3rd Prize – “Soroca Fortress [3]”.
In case of approval by the Executive Board, the concepts selected by the evaluation committee may be included in the specification for drawing up the design of coins with face value of 1 MDL and 2 MDL and the Executive Board reserves the express right to refuse the results of public consultations and select an alternative concept.
Public consultations will end on 4 August 2017.
