
Octavian Armașu was appointed as Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) on 30 November 2018.
Octavian Armașu is born in 1969 in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova. He graduated the Technical University of Moldova, System Engineer specialization (1994). Mr. Armașu also followed a ”CFA Institute” training programme, United States of America (2006) and courses on Advisory Services in finance, accounting, marketing and management within the ”Private Business Reform” Center – USAID project.
At the date of his appointment, Mr. Octavian Armașu had over 22 years of experience in the financial - economic sector. Before becoming the NBM Governor, Mr. Armașu held the position of Minister of Finance of the Republic of Moldova (2016-2018).
Octavian Armașu started his professional activity in 1996 as Sales Manager at Glass Container Company S.A., Republic of Moldova.
In the period 1997-1999, Mr. Armașu held the position of Senior Consultant, Onest Business Consulting, a Moldovan – Dutch joint enterprise.
During 1999-2016, he developed a career in the Südzucker Moldova S.A., Republic of Moldova, where he achieved an increasing professional development, holding the positions of controller, Head of Controlling Department (planning, budget, financial analysis, strategic financial planning), CFO Financial Director, Member of Governing Board.
Mr. Octavian Armașu has acquired extensive experience and expertise in financial-economic sector during his career.
