The European integration is a priority of the internal and foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the existence of a functioning market economy is one of the main conditions that a country must meet in order to join the European Union. In this context, the National Bank of Moldova, as the central bank of the state and having specific competences, participates actively in the process of internal legislative, institutional and functional changes aiming at the achievement of the economic accession criteria to the European Union, thus bringing the Republic of Moldova closer to the European Union. Within its powers, the National Bank of Moldova promotes the approximation of its regulatory framework and activities in line with the European Union’s legislation and best practices.
