Governor Anca Dragu attended the centenary of the central bank of Poland

The event entitled "100 years since the establishment of the central bank of Poland - a success story" brought together financial experts, professors and central bank governors from the region to discuss topics related to price stability, the efficiency of monetary policy instruments and the mix of economic and monetary policies.

Plenary sessions emphasized the achievements and challenges of central bank systems, current monetary policy approaches and current central bank policy strategies.

The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Anca Dragu, recalled that after the Covid19 pandemic and the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, inflation was the main adversary of central banks. In this regard, the NBM has come up with well-targeted measures that have led to the decrease of inflation in the Republic of Moldova from 34% to 5.1%, and the NBM monetary policy is up to date with the challenges of global trends.

During the event, the NBM Governor also had a bilateral meeting with the First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Poland, Marta Kightley.

Anca Dragu stated that the NBM is willing to further develop capacity-building programs in the field of banking supervision, using the Polish experience.

"In this way, the NBM will integrate more quickly into European systems and will easily address the challenges and opportunities presented by the process of integration into the European Union," Anca Dragu added.

Over the past years, the collaboration between the central banks of Moldova and Poland has focused on several important segments such as macroprudential stress testing of the banking system, development of the NBM economic research framework and also on other areas essential for the modernization of the banking sector.
