The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, had a meeting today with the Ambassador of Germany to the Republic of Moldova, Angela Ganninger.
The officials discussed about the importance of signing a new program with the IMF for the recovery of Moldova's economy in the context of the current health crisis and long-term development, strengthening the cooperation between the Republic Moldova and Germany in the financial and banking sector and its development prospects.
The NBM Governor also stressed the significance of the exchange of ideas and experience promoted by the central bank of Germany, Bundesbank, through the training and consultancy assistance in the field provided to NBM specialists. At the same time, referring to the process of reforming our banks in recent years, Octavian Armașu remarked that “we want to further modernize the banking sector, leaving behind the consequences of the epidemiological crisis, by applying measures to overcome it to the benefit of citizens involved in more dynamic banking relationships.”
For her part, the Ambassador Angela Ganninger revealed the long-standing partnership between Germany and the Republic of Moldova under the common goals of democracy and the rule of law. The ambassador also mentioned the progress in our country's banking system, including its alignment with European standards, emphasizing the importance of the European path taken and the independence of the central bank to affirm the proposed financial, banking and economic desideratum.
