National Bank of Moldova launches registration for the 7th edition of the "The Meaning of Money" Financial Education Camp

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) has opened registration for the seventh edition of the "The Meaning of Money" Financial Education Camp. The programme is designed for young people aged 16 and above who wish to strengthen their financial skills and gain a better understanding of the role of the financial system in the economy.

This year's edition is organised in partnership with “Yep Moldova”, an organisation that supports the development of the creative and technology industries, as well as the start-up ecosystem.

"In an increasingly complex and digitalised financial environment, young people need sound knowledge and clear guidance to assess opportunities and risks effectively. Financial education helps foster responsible behaviour based on analysis, planning and an understanding of the consequences of every decision. Through this camp, the National Bank aims to equip participants with practical tools for managing their financial resources efficiently and making informed decisions. Developing these skills among young people is essential not only for individual financial security, but also for building a stable and inclusive economy," said Ms Anca Dragu, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova.

The programme will bring together participants from across the country in an intensive learning environment combining interactive sessions, case studies, practical workshops and direct discussions with experts from the National Bank of Moldova and other institutions in the financial sector. This year, the Financial Education Camp will also mark the launch of the FinanciarELE Mentorship Programme – a women's leadership platform. Throughout the camp, participants will have the opportunity to enrol in mentoring sessions led by women holding senior management positions in Moldova's financial and banking sector.

Young people will learn about the role of the central bank in maintaining price stability and safeguarding the stability of the financial system. They will also explore topics such as saving and investing, the responsible use of digital financial services, and the secure use of electronic payments. In addition, they will examine the importance of financial inclusion and its contribution to building a prosperous economy that is accessible to everyone.

Through practical exercises, simulations and team-based activities, participants will strengthen their critical thinking, analytical skills and the competencies required to make responsible financial decisions. They will also have the opportunity to engage with professionals from the financial and economic sectors and gain insight into how the knowledge acquired can be applied in everyday life.

Participation in the programme is free of charge. Those interested are invited to register by 6 August 2026 by emailing edufin@bnm.md [1].

Launched in 2020 as part of the "Give Sense to Money" initiative, the camp contributes to developing a generation capable of making responsible financial decisions and playing an active role in the economic development of the Republic of Moldova.
