The NBM Governor, Anca Dragu, met with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia to discuss strengthening financial cooperation and progress in European integration

The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), Ms Anca Dragu, today held an official meeting with the State Secretary for European Affairs, International Law, Protection of Interests, and Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Ms Neva Grašič. The dialogue focused on strategic partnership within international financial bodies, the success of the Republic of Moldova’s accession to SEPA, and the progress in aligning banking legislation with European Union standards.

During discussions on the European path, Ms Anca Dragu stated that EU accession represents a major impetus for economic transformations: "By aligning the financial sector with European standards and operationalising SEPA, we offer foreign investors the predictability and security they need to choose the Republic of Moldova. A robust and modern banking system is the foundation on which we build sustainable economic growth, facilitating capital flows and reducing costs for citizens and businesses. We are determined to make Moldova an attractive destination for high-quality investment, fully integrated into the European economic circuit."

Ms Anca Dragu also highlighted Slovenia’s important role in supporting the Centre of Excellence in Finance (CEF), an international organisation based in Ljubljana, dedicated to developing institutional capacities in public finance and the financial sector in Eastern and Southeastern Europe.

In this context, the NBM, together with CEF, is implementing the #NBM LearnOrgLab project – Institutional Transformation into a Learning-Oriented Organisation with the support of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia. The project aims to strengthen the institutional capacities of the NBM, focusing on the development of professional skills, promoting participatory leadership, and building an organisational culture based on learning, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.

The visit of the Slovenian delegation is part of the NBM’s strategy to promote international dialogue and the exchange of experience with European institutions and EU member states, to facilitate the effective implementation of reforms and the smooth integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European financial system.

The Slovenian delegation also included His Excellency Robert Kokalj, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to Chișinău, as well as other officials from the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
