The dialogue between the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, and the Ambassador of France, Graham Paul, focused on the macroeconomic developments in the Republic of Moldova and the global ones, efforts undertaken by the NBM together with other Moldovan authorities to ensure financial stability, and escalation of difficulties in the context of the war in Ukraine. At the same time, talks touched upon the importance of reforms in the domestic banking sector that have made banks resilient to recent crises.
Octavian Armașu referred to the monetary policy measures taken in the fight against inflation, which is currently manifested globally. The NBM Governor also appreciated the support shown by France to help the Republic of Moldova cope with the various challenges posed by the complicated regional situation.
In his turn, the Ambassador of France reiterated the continued openness of his country together with the European Union to support the European path of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, His Excellency appreciated the reform process in our country, which is based on the commitment of all authorities, including ensuring the financial stability necessarily supported by the independence of the central bank. Ambassador Graham Paul stressed the importance of economic and cultural cooperation between our countries, expressing his confidence that the shocks of the crisis will be overcome with a prospect of consolidating development in various areas to the benefit of all citizens.
