The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, met today with the World Bank’s Country Manager for Moldova, Inguna Dobraja.
The discussions covered the macroeconomic situation in our country, which is affected by the pandemic, then the vulnerabilities caused by the energy crisis and the war in Ukraine, which brought an unprecedented difficult experience to the whole society. In this context, the officials also discussed the actions of central banks in response to the current inflationary pressures that all countries face, the Republic of Moldova being exposed much more significantly due to its small and open economy with close ties to both Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
At the same time, the World Bank’s Country Manager noted the reform process in the Moldovan banking sector, which has proven to be safe and resistant during the crisis. Inguna Dobraja also mentioned the openness of her organization to continue to support various projects related to the competence of the National Bank of Moldova, which, respectively, focus on development in multiple segments of activity.
