The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, had a meeting with the US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Dereck J. Hogan.
The dialogue focused on macro-financial developments and the need to continue reforms in the banking sector of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the parties discussed the prospects of signing a new agreement with the IMF and its importance for the economic development of the Republic of Moldova.
In this regard, the US official stressed the importance of maintaining the independence of the central bank, which is a key element in ensuring the financial stability of the Republic of Moldova. This is essential for the security and resilience of the banking sector, for the benefit of citizens, said Dereck J. Hogan.
The Governor Octavian Armașu appreciated the support of the development partners of the Republic of Moldova in its efforts towards a modern economy and society. In this context, the head of the central bank mentioned the efforts of the NBM and the results obtained in consolidating and modernizing the banking sector. Octavian Armașu referred to the importance of the commitments that the Republic of Moldova will assume in the future program with the IMF.
In this context, the US Ambassador, Dereck J. Hogan, expressed his hope that the Republic of Moldova will succeed in signing this program, meant to contribute to the long-term development of our country.
