The NBM has taken over the chairmanship of the Group of Banking Supervisors from Central and South-Eastern Europe

 

The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) will chair the Group of Banking Supervisors from Central and South-Eastern Europe (BSCEE). The decision was taken at the 37th Annual Members’ Conference, held from 3 to 5 June in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Consequently, NBM Deputy Governor Constantin Șchendra will hold the position of Chair of the group for the period from 16 December 2025 to 15 December 2026.

The participation of the Republic of Moldova in the BSCEE underscores our country's commitment to strengthening banking supervision capacity and integrating into the European supervisory system.

"Membership in this high-level forum offers multiple benefits, including support for research and education programs, promotion of close communication between supervisory authorities, and facilitation of better performance of supervisory functions," said the NBM Deputy Governor on this occasion.

This year's conference focused on topics of current relevance and major interest to international banking supervisors, including cyber risk, bank digitalisation, and the use of artificial intelligence, as well as the coexistence of micro- and macroprudential requirements.

Additionally, the National Bank has expressed its willingness to host the next BSCEE Annual Conference in 2026, reaffirming its active role in promoting regional cooperation in the field of banking supervision.

The event brought together banking supervisory authorities from 24 countries, with the primary goal of fostering cooperation and sharing experiences to strengthen regional financial systems.

The Group of Banking Supervisors from Central and South-Eastern Europe (BSCEE) is a network founded in 1991, that brings together banking supervisory authorities from 24 countries in Central and South-Eastern Europe. The main purpose of this high-level forum is cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of banking supervision, contributing to the strengthening of financial systems in the region.
