The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) puts into circulation a coin [1] with a face value of MDL 10, on the occasion of the State Flag Day, marked in the Republic of Moldova on 27 April.
This is dedicated to the 30th anniversary since the adoption of the tricolour and completes, as a whole, the series of circulating commemorative coins, which also includes two coins of this type. The first coin was issued by the NBM in 2018, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency in the Republic of Moldova, and the second - in 2019 on the occasion of 30 years since the adoption of the laws on State language and Latin script.
The new coin is made of steel, plated with nickel and brass, conferring a bimetallic appearance: silver and gold, and will have a circulation of 250,000 copies.
The obverse of the coin has in the foreground the stylized image of the hoisted tricolour, in which the State coat of arms of the Republic of Moldova is framed, and the inscription on the circumference: "30 YEARS SINCE THE ADOPTION OF THE TRICOLOUR OF THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA".
On the reverse of the coin, 30 stars symbolizing 30 years since the adoption of the tricolour are engraved in a circle, the face value “10 LEI” (Eng. MDL 10) is placed in the centre and the year of issue “2020” – on the top.
The coin has the monogram from the letters “R” and “M”, which represents the acronym of the state – Republic of Moldova, in latent image.
The new coin will be put into circulation via licensed banks and will also be available at the NBM cash desk after the lifting of the emergency status.
The coin will circulate in parallel with the MDL 10 banknote and the metallic coin with the same face value, including the commemorative coins issued in 2018 and 2019.
