The Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), at the proposal of the NBM Executive Board, voted the design concept of the commemorative coin dedicated to doctors, which was selected from the works proposed by citizens.
The design projects were evaluated by a commission composed of experts from the NBM, the National Heraldry Commission, the Union of Fine Artists, the National Museum of History of Moldova, etc.
At the same time, opinions were collected, in focus groups, from specialists in the field: National Public Health Agency; Institute of Emergency Medicine; Republican Clinical Hospital; "Holy Trinity" Municipal Hospital; Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices; National Medical Insurance Company; Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection; "Nicolae Testemiteanu" State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, etc. Thus, the selection commission received 25 concepts that met the criteria, being chosen eight papers, presented for consultation to health specialists.
Finally, the work signed by the sculptor Veaceslav Jiglițchi, a member of the Union of Fine Artists of the Republic of Moldova, was chosen. The design project represents the image of two doctors on the background of the map of the Republic of Moldova, rendering the invaluable dedication of the medical workers in our country.
The design concepts came from the citizens after, in the summer of this year, the Executive Board of the NBM decided to dedicate a coin to the health workers and invited the public to participate in the elaboration of the design. The basic criteria for selecting the concepts were the originality, creativity and coherence of the design elements, so that it is possible to execute them on the surface of the coin. Each participant was able to present only one concept, being obliged to respect copyright and related rights.
The coin "My doctor - my hero" will be minted in silver.
