National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

Руководитель делегации Европейского союза в Республике Молдова Петер Михалко провел переговоры с президентом НБМ Серджиу Чокля и вице-президентом Кристиной Харя о ходе реформ банковского сектора и действиях, которые следует предпринять в рамках Соглашения об ассоциации РМ – ЕС.
Руководитель центрального банка оценил европейскую помощь в успешном внедрении проекта Twinning и начало нового проекта помощи в финансово-банковской системе. В данном контексте президент НБМ высоко оценил оказанную помощь центральному банку Молдовы советником высокого уровня в области банковского регулирования и надзора, Алдона Жосьене.
В свою очередь, Петер Михалко вновь подтвердил открытость ЕС для дальнейшего оказания необходимой поддержки Национальному банку для осуществления реформ, и отметил важность выполнения всех обязательств, принятых властями в рамках программы с МВФ и Европейским союзом для возобновления доверия к НБМ вследствие банковского кризиса. Европейское официальное лицо оценило прогресс нашей страны в создании современной надзорной регулирующей базы, приравненной к стандартам ЕС (Базель III), и настоял на необходимость и далее укреплять независимость и полномочия надзора НБМ, которые направлены на обеспечение финансовой стабильности и прозрачности финансово-банковского сектора в интересах всех граждан страны.
Этот визит является вторым для руководителя делегации ЕС Петера Михалко в НБМ. 20 октября 2017 в Национальном банке состоялось совместное заседание с руководителями дипломатических миссий ЕС в Республике Молдова, в котором участвовал и министр финансов Октавиан Армашу. Событие, на котором проходило обсуждение макрофинансовые эволюций и положения в банковской системе, состоялось после ежегодного заседания МВФ и Группы Всемирного банка.
