National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

Astăzi, 29 martie 2018, a avut loc adunarea de constituire a Depozitarului central unic al valorilor mobiliare (DCU). În cadrul acesteia, a fost aprobată decizia de înființare a DCU, au fost desemnate organele de conducere și aprobate actele de constituire. Astfel, DCU va fi condus de un comitet executiv compus din trei membri. Totodată, Consiliul de supraveghere al DCU este format din reprezentanți ai Băncii Naționale a Moldovei, Comisiei Naționale a Pieței Financiare, Ministerului Finanțelor și Bursei de Valori a Moldovei.
Viceguvernatorul BNM Ion Sturzu a subliniat importanța Depozitarul central în dezvoltarea pieței financiare din Republica Moldova. „DCU va crea noi perspective și posibilități pentru instituțiile financiare bancare și nebancare, emitenții de instrumente financiare, investitorii străini și autohtoni, și va devini un mecanism eficient de protecție a drepturilor investitorilor", a precizat Ion Sturzu.
DCU este creat în baza Legii cu privire la Depozitarul central unic al valorilor mobiliare, adoptată în anul 2016, și va fi singura instituție din Republica Moldova care va desfășura activități de evidență, depozitare și decontare a valorilor mobiliare de stat și corporative.
