National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

National Bank of Moldova is responsable for the compilation of the balance of payments, international investment position and the statistics of the external debt of the Republic of Moldova.

Cea de-a doua ediție a proiectului-pilot „Școala finanțelor moderne”, lansat anul acesta de Banca Națională a Moldovei (BNM), Banca Națională a României (BNR) și Academia de Studii Economice din București (ASE), s-a încheiat cu succes pentru încă un grup de studenți și masteranzi de la Academia de Studii Economice a Moldovei.
Programul a oferit o experiență unică, în cadrul căreia tinerii din Republica Moldova au avut posibilitatea să vadă cum funcționează o bancă centrală din Uniunea Europeană, dar și alte instituții importante din România.
„La întâlnirea din 25 aprilie 2023, BNM și BNR împreună cu noi, cei doi rectori, am stabilit să pornim acest proiect, pe care am dori să-l continuăm și anii următori. Este vorba de două serii pe an de studenți..., prezentându-le din experiența noastră și stând la dispoziția dânșilor cu răspunsuri la întrebările pe care le au”, spune rectorul ASE București, Nicolae Istudor, în Podcastul „Dă sens banilor”.
Participanții au avut posibilitatea să îmbine experiențe de studiu în capitala României cu activități cultural-istorice în orașe reprezentative precum Iași, Brașov, Suceava și Sinaia.
La finalizarea programului, după ce vor face prezentări de educație financiară în localitățile rurale din Republica Moldova, participanții la „Școala finanțelor moderne” vor primi certificate semnate de guvernatorii BNM și BNR, precum și de rectorii ASE București și ASEM.
Participarea studenților din Republica Moldova la acest program a fost susținută parțial de Programul USAID „Reforme Instituționale și Structurale în Moldova” (MISRA), care sprijină eforturile BNM în accelerarea reformelor în sectorul financiar, sporirea nivelului de educație și incluziune financiară.
