National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

Banca Naționala a Moldovei (BNM) a organizat, între 23 și 24 aprilie 2024, două ședințe de lucru prezidate de guvernatoarea Anca Dragu, cu reprezentanții asociațiilor de economii și împrumut care dețin licență de categoria B și a Asociației Naționale Centrale a asociațiilor de economii și împrumut.
Discuțiile s-au concentrat pe aspecte-cheie ale activității asociațiilor, cu accent pe gestionarea riscurilor și conformarea la actele normative în vigoare. De asemenea, au fost menționate acțiunile necesare și obligațiile ce decurg din respectarea cadrului normativ actual. O altă temă prioritară a fost explorarea oportunităților de consolidare a activității, reglementării și supravegherii sectorului, BNM încurajând o implicare activă a asociațiilor în procesul de dezvoltare legislativă.
„Aceste întruniri subliniază angajamentul continuu al BNM de a îmbunătăți colaborarea cu entitățile supravegheate și de a sprijini dezvoltarea unui mediu financiar robust și transparent. Inițiativele băncii centrale sunt orientate spre crearea unui cadru de reglementare și supraveghere predictibil, în beneficiul întregului sistem financiar și al participanților la piață. BNM așteaptă rezultate pozitive, care să contribuie la stabilitatea și integritatea sistemului financiar”, afirmă Anca Dragu.
Activitatea entităților din sectorul nebancar este reglementată și supravegheată de Banca Națională a Moldovei începând cu 1 iulie 2023, când unele competențe de la Comisia Națională a Pieței Financiare au fost transferate către banca centrală.
