On the day of the Moldovan leu, the NBM and the commercial banks invite pupils and students on a journey along the “Road of Money”

In this anniversary year of the Moldovan leu, celebrating 30 years since its introduction, the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) is organising a trip on the “Road of Money” for pupils and students on 29 November. This financial education event has been highly popular among children and young people in previous editions, as finance has become a favourite topic for many of them among other subjects of great interest.

The journey begins at the National Bank, where visitors can find out how money circulates, in what form, and how it reaches the economy or consumers.

Tourists will also hear a brief history of the Moldovan leu and will be able to admire the collection of commemorative and jubilee coins issued by the National Bank of Moldova, as well as monetary artefacts from other countries on display in the central bank's museum.

Participants in the event will also be able to watch an attractive and useful presentation prepared by the National Bank's experts on the security features of the Moldovan leu. The journey along the “Road of Money” will continue at one of the commercial banks, which will present important concepts for consumer knowledge and simulate unusual situations in the financial world.

Participation in the event is possible through pre-registration. Groups of up to 30 people aged 12 and over will be formed. Students will be accompanied by an adult who will be responsible for the safety of minors during the trip. Applications can be sent to edufin@bnm.md until 26 November 2023. Visits will be organised at each hour, between 9AM to 4PM.

Now in its 5th year, the “Road of Money” is a financial education event that promotes the development of financial literacy among young citizens as a foundation for future personal wealth.
