National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Anca Dragu, today held talks with Her Excellency Fern Horine, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Moldova.
During the meeting, the important role of the central bank in the European course of the Republic of Moldova was highlighted, including in the negotiation process. In this regard, Anca Dragu mentioned that this subject is a priority on her agenda.
“We want to contribute to the development of the financial market and financial services, in order for the Republic of Moldova to enjoy prosperity and greater stability,” stressed the Governor of the National Bank.
Anca Dragu also referred to the need to identify financial intermediation solutions to ensure the economic development of the Republic of Moldova.
In this context, Her Excellency Fern Horine expressed the United Kingdom's openness to support new investments in the Republic of Moldova. The Ambassador also referred to the close cooperation between the two countries, mentioning the excellent results achieved in various fields, including the banking system, through the UK Good Governance Fund. Cooperation in the field of applying best and modern practices in preventing and combating money laundering and terrorist financing was identified as an area of interest for both parties.
Her Excellency Fern Horine opted to capitalize on new initiatives aimed to ensure the development of the Republic of Moldova.
