National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

Президент Национального банка Молдовы Анка Драгу побеседовала со студентами Бельцкого университета «Алеку Руссо» об инфляции и роли центрального банка.
На лекции присутствовало более ста студентов. Анка Драгу описала деятельность и роль центральных банков в экономике и в то же время профессионально и доступно рассказала, что такое инфляция, чем она определяется и каков арсенал инструментов, используемых центральными банками для ее сдерживания.
Также президент НБМ отметил важность финансового образования, подчеркнув, что для любого центрального банка является большим преимуществом, когда граждане понимают, почему растут ставки и инфляция - тенденции, часто встречающиеся в последние годы на фоне многочисленных глобальных кризисов.
«Нам необходимо финансовое образование, которое начинается в школе, именно для того, чтобы все понимали, почему государство принимает те или иные решения финансового характера. НБМ является государственным учреждением, и наша роль заключается в том, чтобы обеспечить безопасность граждан в сфере финансового рынка», - заявила Анка Драгу.
Касаясь инфляции, глава НБМ пояснила, какие внешние источники влияют на инфляционные процессы в стране, а также как связаны между собой уровень инфляции и специфика экономики.
В интерактивной атмосфере открытого и увлекательного диалога студенты имели возможность задать президенту несколько вопросов, затрагивающих, в частности, тему инфляции, отличительных признаков приближения финансового кризиса и мер по подготовке соответствующего ответа. Также молодежь проявила интерес к приоритетам президентского мандата, в том числе по укреплению доверия к центральному банку. Президент отметила, что независимость и целостность НБМ имеют важное значение на ее повестке дня.
Это была первая публичная лекция в рамках Национальной кампании финансового образования по теме «Финансовое образование для всех», проводимой Национальным банком Молдовы в партнерстве с Независимым аналитическим центром «Эксперт-Групп» при поддержке Программы USAID «Институциональные и структурные реформы» в Молдове (MISRA).
Кампания адресована всем гражданам, независимо от возраста и рода занятий, и направлена на активизацию усилий по финансовому образованию в Республике Молдова.
