TAIEX Workshop: Strengthening the research function at the National Bank of Moldova

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM), in partnership with TAIEX – the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument of the European Union, is organizing an interactive workshop focused on improving the research function at central banks.

The TAIEX workshop brings together international experts, specialists from the National Bank of Moldova, and representatives from the academic community, with the aim of strengthening economic and financial research capacities to better support the decision-making process in the banking and economic sector.

At the opening of the event, the NBM Governor, Anca Dragu, mentioned that in a context where the global economy is becoming increasingly complex, strengthening the economic and financial research function is crucial for the National Bank: "This workshop represents an opportunity to learn from international best practices and to create a solid platform for developing a relevant research culture in the economic field," stated Anca Dragu.

The event highlights successful research models, such as the practice of the National Bank of Croatia, providing a platform for identifying innovative solutions essential for integrating new methods of economic analysis into the activities of the NBM.

During the event, held on 5 and 6 December2024, TAIEX experts and the NBM team are analyzing the challenges faced by the institution due to the lack of advanced local programs in econometrics and quantitative economics, proposing practical solutions for the development of an academic and professional ecosystem that meets current requirements.

The workshop will conclude with a set of recommendations for strengthening the research function within the National Bank of Moldova.
