The Minister of Finance and the Governor of the NBM attended a seminar in Berlin dedicated to the economic and banking reforms in the Republic of Moldova

 

Recently, at the invitation of the German Economic Team in Moldova (GET Moldova) and the German Council for International Relations (DGAP), the Minister of Finance, Octavian Armașu, and the Governor of the NBM, Sergiu Cioclea, made a working visit to Berlin to participate in a seminar dedicated to the economic and banking reforms in the Republic of Moldova.

At the seminar, Octavian Armașu presented the concept and the implementation progress of the central administrative reform, pension reform and justice reform, as well as the measures taken by the Government to enhance the Moldovan business environment, the reorganization and performance of the Customs Service and the State Tax Service of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, Sergiu Cioclea reported on the progress of institutional and legislative reforms in the financial and banking sector, and, in particular, the adoption of the banking law that transposes the new Basel III banking supervision principles, the banking shareholding transparency measures, financial consolidation of the systemic banks and the implementation milestones of the IMF program.

The seminar gathered over 20 participants from various German institutions and NGOs, such as the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, the German central bank, the Federal Parliament, DGAP, the Center for East-European and International Studies (ZoiS), the Eastern Europe Business Association of Germany, Berlin Economics, and diplomatic missions.

During the working visit, Moldovan officials held meetings with representatives of the Federal Government, financial institutions and foreign embassies in Berlin.
