Octavian Armașu had a meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova, Jānis Mažeiks

Octavian Armașu, the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), had a meeting with His Excellency Jānis Mažeiks, the Ambassador of the European Union (UE) to the Republic of Moldova.

The meeting provided the opportunity to discuss the advancements concerning the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the engagement of the National Bank of Moldova in this significantly important national process. This is particularly relevant considering the Republic of Moldova’s status as a candidate country for EU accession and its national objective of initiating EU accession negotiations.

The meeting also addressed the macroeconomic developments in the Republic of Moldova, along with the situation of the country’s financial sector, following the NBM’s assumption of new responsibilities from the National Commission for Financial Market.

At the same time, the NBM Governor emphasized the strategic importance of continuing efforts to align the financial sector with the European norms and standards, as well the measures implemented by the National Bank to enhance the stability of the financial system in the Republic of Moldova.
