National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

В 2013 году объём банковских переводов денежных средств из-за границы в пользу физических лиц Республики Молдова составил 1,608.98 млн. долларов США, на 7.7% больше чем в 2012 году. 89.0% переводов были совершены посредством систем международных переводов, а остальные – перечислением на банковские счета. Валютная структура переводов в пользу физических лиц в течение 2013 года характеризовалась относительным выравниванием доли евро, российского рубля и доллара в общей сумме. Это выразилось в увеличении доли переводов в российских рублях на 9.6 процентных пункта до достижения 33.6% в структуре валют. Доля денежных переводов в евро составила 35.1%, на 2.0 процентных пункта меньше, чем в 2012 году, в то время как доля переводов в долларах США снизилась на 7.6 процентных пункта до 31.3 %.
Большая часть переводов поступает из России – 68.0 % (увеличение доли на 2.4 процентных пункта по сравнению с 2012 годом), из Италии – 9.3% (больше на 0.2 процентных пункта), из Израиля – 6.3% (рост на 0.9 процентных пункта), из США – 4.8% (на 0.1 процентных пункта больше), из Франции – 1.3% (на уровне предыдущего года). Переводы из этих пяти стран составляют 89.7% от общего объёма денежных переводов.
Национальный банк Молдовы обращает внимание на то, что денежные переводы из-за границы в пользу физических лиц через лицензированные банки состоят не только из переводов граждан Молдовы, работающих за рубежом, но также включают односторонние переводы в виде пенсий, пособий, наследства, подарков, различных пожертвований, а также другие виды переводов, полученные физическими лицами из-за рубежа. Отметим, что в данные НБМ не включаются денежные переводы, произведенные через банки из районов левобережья Днестра, что усложняет сравнение статистики НБМ с зеркальной статистикой других стран.
