National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

Comitetul executiv al Băncii Naționale a Moldovei (BNM) a decis menținerea ratei amortizorului de risc sistemic, pe bază individuală, pentru toate băncile și aplicate expunerilor situate în Republica Moldova, la nivelul de 1% din cuantumul expunerii la risc, stabilit prin pct.4 din HCE cu privire la stabilirea societăților de tip O-SII și aprobarea amortizoarelor de capital ale băncilor nr.193/2018.
Totodată, s-a decis a se menține până la 31 decembrie 2021 majorarea cu 2 puncte procentuale a ratei amortizorului de risc sistemic stabilită prin pct.4 din Hotărârea Comitetului executiv al Băncii Naționale a Moldovei nr.110/2018.
Decizia a fost luată în baza rezultatele studiilor și analizelor efectuate de BNM, care denotă că riscurile sistemice potențiale, derivate din procesul de tranziție a sectorului bancar la noile cerințe de reglementare și supraveghere bancară, persistă, iar situația economică nefavorabilă, stabilită în contextul crizei pandemice COVID-19 și prognozele nefavorabile ale instituțiilor naționale și internaționale aferente creșterii economice din țară și regiune necesită o abordare prudentă aferentă cerințelor de capital aplicabile băncilor.
Hotărârea Comitetului executiv al BNM nr. 287 din 24 decembrie 2020 cu privire la menținerea ratei amortizorului pentru risc sistemic intră în vigoare la data 1 ianuarie 2021 și se publică în Monitorul Oficial al Republicii Moldova.
