High-level meeting in Brussels: NBM Governor Anca Dragu met with Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Economy, Productivity, Implementation, and Simplification

During her working visit to Brussels, the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Ms. Anca Dragu, had a bilateral meeting today, October 1, 2025, with Mr. Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Economy, Productivity, Implementation, and Simplification.

The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and European institutions, with an emphasis on the country's macroeconomic developments and prospects, alignment with European standards in the financial sector, integration into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), and the implementation of the European Commission's recommendations from the European Union Enlargement Package. In addition, topics related to Moldova's Growth Plan and the implementation of the programme supported by the International Monetary Fund were also addressed.

"The National Bank of Moldova remains fully committed to the process of European financial integration through consistent reforms and by strengthening the stability of the financial sector. The Republic of Moldova will soon become an operational part of SEPA—a historic milestone that will bring direct benefits to citizens and the business environment through faster, safer, and more affordable payments. This achievement reaffirms and strengthens the European path of the Republic of Moldova," emphasised Ms. Anca Dragu.

The meeting is part of a series of high-level discussions through which the authorities of the Republic of Moldova reaffirm their commitment to continuing reforms, strengthening financial stability, and accelerating the country's integration into the European single market.

In its dialogue with European institutions, the National Bank of Moldova contributes to strengthening the macroeconomic framework, boosting investor confidence in the potential of the national financial market, and creating the conditions for sustainable economic growth.
