LIVE Video// National Bank of Moldova is organising a high-level conference "NBM 2025 – European Momentum: A Year of Progress and Integration"

On 19 December 2025, the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) will host a high-level conference titled "NBM 2025 – European Momentum: A Year of Progress and Integration," an event dedicated to the year 2025 and the key stages of the Republic of Moldova's integration into the European financial architecture.

The conference will bring together senior officials from national and European authorities, representatives of financial institutions, economic experts, and international partners, providing a platform for dialogue on the modernisation of financial infrastructure and its direct impact on the economy and society.

The event marks a year of significant progress for the financial system of the Republic of Moldova, in which the modernisation of the payment infrastructure has transitioned from a strategic objective to tangible results for citizens and the business environment. Discussions will focus on recent developments in digital payments, the security and efficiency of payment systems, and their role in strengthening financial stability and economic competitiveness.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the Republic of Moldova's operational connection to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), starting 6 October 2025, as well as on the development and expansion of the MIA Instant Payments system, which enables payments to be made in seconds and represents a regional benchmark in the digitisation of financial services.

"The integration of the Republic of Moldova into the European financial space reflects the National Bank's clear direction towards innovation and the development of secure, accessible financial services aligned with European standards, in support of citizens and the business environment. Joining SEPA and developing the MIA Instant Payments system demonstrates our ability to transform European integration objectives into concrete results with a direct impact on the economic development and financial stability of the Republic of Moldova," states NBM Governor Anca Dragu.

The conference agenda includes speeches by national and European authorities, thematic presentations, and panel discussions dedicated to payment infrastructure, European financial integration, and the prospects for the development of digital financial services in the Republic of Moldova.

The Republic of Moldova initiated the SEPA accession process on 30 January 2024, and on 6 March 2025, the European Payments Council approved the country's inclusion in the SEPA geographical area. The operational connection, achieved on 6 October 2025, marks the completion of this process and provides citizens and businesses with access to fast, efficient, and competitive payment services in line with European standards.
