The National Bank participated in the high-level meeting on Europe's economic outlook, held as part of the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings

The First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), Petru Rotaru, participated in a meeting dedicated to the presentation of the report “Regional Economic Outlook for Europe” (REO), organised by the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The event took place on 15 October 2026 in Bangkok, as part of the IMF – World Bank Group (WBG) Annual Meetings.

The event was opened by the Director of the IMF’s European Department, Mateusz Szczurek, who presented the main findings of the REO report on economic developments in Europe, growth prospects, and the challenges facing the European region, with a focus on the economies of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe.

The discussions also covered the management of energy shocks and inflationary pressures, the coordination of economic policies, and the reforms needed to boost productivity and support economic convergence. The meeting provided central bank governors and finance ministers from Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe with a forum for dialogue on shared challenges and solutions for sustainable growth.

“Participation in such forums provides the National Bank of Moldova with an opportunity to strengthen its dialogue with international financial institutions and monetary and fiscal authorities in the region, as well as to align the national perspective with European economic trends and developments,” said First Deputy Governor Petru Rotaru.

The National Bank of Moldova reaffirms its commitment to maintaining an ongoing dialogue with external development partners in support of price stability and financial stability, as well as the Republic of Moldova’s path toward European integration.

During its visit to Bangkok, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova participated in a series of high-level meetings with officials from the IMF and the World Bank. The meetings focused on strengthening macroeconomic stability, reform priorities, and cooperation with international partners to support sustainable development.
