National Bank supports access to statistical data through specialized training

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) organized today at its headquarters, in partnership with the Economic Press Club, a training workshop on official statistics compiled and disseminated by the institution. The aim of this training session was to provide a better understanding of the methodology, importance and accessibility of the statistical data provided on the NBM website, thus facilitating their correct use by media representatives.

The workshop was opened by Petru Rotaru, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, who emphasized the institution's commitment to ensuring transparency and facilitating access to clear information. "Transparency and data accessibility are essential for the National Bank of Moldova. Through this workshop, we aim to strengthen the understanding and correct interpretation of official statistics, so that economic information is used in a correct and responsible way", stated the Deputy Governor of the central bank.

Participants at the event benefited from presentations delivered by experts from the Reporting and Statistics Department of the NBM, who addressed topics related to the official statistics developed by the institution, including financial accounts (new experimental statistics), the balance of payments and external debt. Also, the importance of aligning these data with the European Union requirements was highlighted, given the Republic of Moldova's path towards the EU accession.

During the interactive Q&A session, participants had the opportunity to clarify specific aspects related to the collection and interpretation of statistical data, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the NBM and the media to ensure a proper understanding of banking information:
