The NBM Governor had a meeting with the EU Ambassador

 

The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, had a meeting with His Excellency Jānis Mažeiks, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.

The discussions focused on the macro-financial situation in the Republic of Moldova in the context of the current crisis in the world and in our country, the worsening economic outlook, the sharp rise in global prices and its repercussions on inflation in our country, and the NBM measures taken in this regard.

Octavian Armașu appreciated the support of the European Union for the Republic of Moldova, including for the development of the institutional capacities of the NBM, strengthening and diversification of the macro-prudential supervision instruments, and improvement of the regulation and supervision of the payment services, etc.

For his part, the EU official, Jānis Mažeiks noted the NBM's efforts to maintain financial stability in the context of significant inflationary pressures in our country, as well as the continuation of the Central Bank's actions in advancing reforms to maintain a secure and modern financial and banking sector.

His Excellency expressed the openness of the European Union to support further the actions of the National Bank of Moldova to support the economy and citizens’ confidence in the responsible fulfilment of its mandate as a central bank.
