Petru Rotaru, in discussions with business associations about the development of payment services

The Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Petru Rotaru, discussed today with representatives of two major business associations: the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham Moldova) and the Moldovan Association of ICT Companies (ATIC).

At the "Business Breakfast" meeting, Mr. Rotaru discussed the implementation of e-KYC, the NBM's vision regarding the arrival on the market of new non-bank Payment Service Providers (PSPs), the development prospects of the payment system launched by the NBM - MIA, as well as the regulation of some fees.

The Deputy Governor noted that the discussions are welcome in a context where the NBM encourages the development of financial services and products, but they must be of high-quality standards and accessible to all citizens.

"We stand by the business environment, we listen to their needs and together we find solutions to these needs. At the same time, ensuring equitable access to financial services remains one of our top priorities. Through collaboration with financial institutions and technology providers, we aim to remove digital barriers and ensure that every citizen has access to the financial tools and knowledge needed to make informed decisions", mentioned Petru Rotaru at the meeting.

During the discussions, the Deputy Governor added that the transposition of European directives into national legislation is an ongoing exercise of aligning the regulatory framework for payment services with the new EU regulations in the field. This represents an important step for innovations in payment services, following the best practices and experiences in the region.
