In August 2019, the total amount of net money transfers from abroad made in favour of individuals via licensed banks of the Republic of Moldova amounted to US$ 99.38 million (down by 2.6% as against August 2018).

Over 100 officials, external financial analysts, bankers, businessmen, development partners, independent experts etc., reunited on 24 September 2019 in Chisinau to talk about the development perspectives of the financial market in the Republic of Moldova.

The regulatory documents of the NBM provide that banks must elaborate internal policies in order to manage efficiently the operational risks they are exposed to, including internal or external fraud, as well as fraud attempts. The application of these norms is indispensable for the efficient protection of banks’ assets.

In August 2019, new loans extended by banks totalled MDL 2,609.2 million, an increase of 7.5%, compared to August 2018.

In August 2019, the monetary base  increased by MDL 83.8 million (0.2%) compared to the previous month and constituted MDL 45,737.5 million, which constitutes 17.1% more than in August 2018.

At the meeting of the working sub-groups at the headquarters of OSCE Mission from Tiraspol, the Vice-Governor of the NBM, Mr Ion Sturzu, mentioned that there is maximum willingness on behalf of the licensed banks from Chisinau to collaborate with economic agents, including with those from the Transnistrian region. The official of the NBM emphasized that banks treat their clients fairly, and the only imposed condition is compliance with the law.

On 24 September 2019, the National Bank of Moldova jointly with the CFA Society Romania will organize the high-level conference “Development of Financial Instruments in the Republic of Moldova”.

The decision was adopted following the most recent evaluation of macroeconomic data.
