Dear Colleagues,
It gives me great pleasure to send you the most sincere and beautiful greetings on the occasion of Banker's Day.
Today, each of us takes stock of the professional results obtained in the last year and, possibly, re-experiences the emotional moments related to them. Because being a professional means not only being competent, but also putting your soul into what you do.
Despite the current difficult context, amid the pandemic and the associated economic crisis, we have a viable and stable banking system, harmonized with international standards, with an adequate financial architecture, with quality banking services and products.
Together with the financial and banking community from all over the world, we have reached a stage, when we must reconsider the lessons learned after the crisis and from this perspective to continue our professional path in the new reality. This raises many questions, to which we must find answers right now. Let's come up with a new vision on the next steps and continue the reform process in the banking sector to meet the needs of the economy, come up with modern products and to highlight what we have learned in the crisis.
We will also have to be resilient to the challenges. And the biggest challenge of the moment is to defend the reforms we have implemented selflessly and responsibly in recent years, so that citizens can continue to enjoy the services of a transparent and secure banking sector.
This year marks 30 years since the establishment of the National Bank of Moldova, which laid the foundations of the banking system in the Republic of Moldova. During this time, the banking system has undergone many tests, we have accumulated knowledge, experience, we have learned some extremely difficult lessons, and I am confident that we will continue the path of reforms with tenacity and responsibility, building a strong, transparent and competitive banking system at global level.
Behind all the achievements in the banking sector is the daily work of each of you, with deep professional involvement and the hours dedicated to it far beyond the schedule. It is your competence that you improve through ongoing study aligned with international standards and the effort of being with citizens in financial inclusion.
I appreciate the professionalism, dedication and perseverance you show in your activity, contributing to the affirmation of the financial and banking system.
I wish you health, prosperity and new professional achievements!
Octavian Armașu

Dear friends of the National Bank of Moldova,
It gives me great pleasure and joy to send you today on behalf of the National Bank of Romania this congratulatory message on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the National Bank of Moldova and the celebration of Banker's Day.
The establishment of the National Bank of Moldova was a milestone in the process of obtaining the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova. Today's event is meant to highlight the remarkable efforts and progress made by the National Bank of Moldova in the three decades of existence and transformation into a European-style central bank. The significance of this anniversary is both an occasion for celebration and pride, and a reflection on past experiences, the effort made over the past thirty years towards a European path, modernization, openness and growth, as well as the challenges of the future.
Since 1991 and until now, the National Bank of Moldova has developed and implemented a set of effective measures to stabilize the monetary and credit environment. The most important step was, of course, the introduction on November 29, 1993 of the national currency, the Moldovan leu. The National Bank of Romania provided all the support for the first missions of Moldova to provide technical expertise within a close institutional collaboration.
In the following years, the collaboration between our institutions focused on the development of the banking system and the strengthening of financial stability in the Republic of Moldova, but also on professional training. I cannot fail to note the implementation in these years of institutional construction of a series of reforms to adapt European and international standards and to reiterate my full appreciation of the measures you have taken recently to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. These achievements are largely due to the commitment and constant efforts of the management of the National Bank of Moldova and the team of specialists of your institution.
We, at the National Bank of Romania, have always found in you well-prepared dialogue partners, eager to know and learn as much as possible from the secrets of the profession of central banker.
On its 30th anniversary, the National Bank of Romania, its Board of Directors, wish the National Bank of Moldova new accomplishments in line with its historical duties. You, who make up the professional body of the National Bank of Moldova, do not forget that you take care of a rare treasure and a great responsibility. Be proud and confident in the activity you carry out with dedication for the development of the country's financial sector.
Mugur Isărescu,
Governor,
The National Bank of Romania
