A first for the region: The NBM will implement, with the USAID support, an IT solution designed to monitor and prevent money laundering risks and assess bank shareholders

 


The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) will host on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, starting at 15:00, an event dedicated to the implementation of an integrated IT solution, designed to automate and streamline the monitoring processes of money laundering risks and the transparency of the ownership of supervised banks. The IT solution, which is a first for the region, will be implemented with the support of Financial Sector Transparency Activity (FSTA), funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The event will be attended by the Governor of the NBM, Octavian Armașu, the Director of the USAID Mission to Moldova, Scott Hocklander, the FSTA Program Manager, Matthew Macellaro, representatives of the NBM’s relevant departments, as well as of the banking sector.

During the event, the main functionalities envisaged for the future IT solution, as well as the objectives pursued by its implementation will be presented. At the same time, details on other activities supported by FSTA to advance financial sector reforms will be provided.
