NBM and NBR launch the “School of Modern Finance” in Romania for Master students in economics from the Republic of Moldova

The National Bank of Moldova is organising a contest for the selection of participants in the “School of Modern Finance” starting with 7 to 14 July 2023, the first edition of which is intended for Master students specialising in finance at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova (AESM). This large-scale project, initiated in collaboration with the National Bank of Romania and Bucharest University of Economic Studies, will offer young people a one-week unique study and communication experience starting from 22 to 30 July this year.

The program will start in Chisinau with a meeting with the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, and take place in Bucharest, Romania, together with a cultural programme in the cities of Iasi, Brasov, Suceava and Sinaia.

The participants of the “School of Modern Finance” will have a unique opportunity to hear lectures given by experts from the National Bank of Romania in collaboration with the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and to take part in meetings with prominent figures from the financial-banking field in Romania, especially with the Governor of the NBR, Mugur Isărescu. In the end, the Master students will receive a certificate signed by the Governors of the NBM and NBR, and the rectors of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies and Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.

The participation of Moldovan students in the "School of Modern Finance" is supported partially by the USAID Institutional and Structural Reforms in Moldova Program, which supports the efforts of the NBM to accelerate financial sector reforms, increase education and financial inclusion.

The “School of Modern Finance” will be organised twice a year - in the second half of July and September in Romania, on a competitive basis. The criteria for the selection of participants can be viewed HERE.

By launching this project, the organizers aim to intensify efforts to support the professional training process of young scholars in the Republic of Moldova, which will subsequently contribute to the strengthening of economics professionals and the financial inclusion of Moldovan citizens.
