The NBM Governor had a meeting with the Head of the Netherlands Embassy Office in Chișinău

 


The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Octavian Armașu, had a meeting today with the Head of the Netherlands Embassy Office in Chisinau, Floris van Eijk.

The officials discussed mainly the progress made in the financial and banking sector of the Republic of Moldova, the maintaining of its resilience capacity to the severe challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the macro-financial aspects of our country's development in the context of European integration.

In this respect, the NBM Governor reported on the resulting developments on several segments of the banks' activity, including in particular the shareholding transparency, the corporate governance, the compliance with prudential rules, the risk management, and other improvements that have strengthened the situation in the sector. The new banking legislation aligned to European standards represents an imperative framework for the development of the financial and banking field, said Octavian Armașu.

For his part, the Head of the Netherlands Embassy Office in Chisinau, Floris van Eijk, stressed the importance of the successful banking reform process in the Republic of Moldova and the need to continue it, expressing his country's commitment for a lasting and efficient mutual cooperation relationship. The official also referred to the importance of the central bank independence for the realization of the reform agenda undertaken, as well as the EU's openness to support this agenda.
