National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

În anul 2013 volumul total al transferurilor bancare de mijloace băneşti din străinătate în favoarea persoanelor fizice din Republica Moldova a constituit 1,608.98 milioane dolari SUA, ceea ce este cu 7.7 la sută mai mult comparativ cu anul 2012. De menţionat că 89.0 la sută din ele au fost efectuate prin sisteme de transfer internaţional de bani fără deschiderea conturilor bancare, iar restul – prin virament în conturi.
Structura valutară a transferurilor prin sisteme de transfer internaţional de bani, pe parcursul anului 2013, a fost caracterizată prin echilibrarea relativă a ponderilor deţinute de EUR, RUB şi USD. Aceasta s-a realizat în urma creşterii, în anul 2013 comparativ cu anul 2012, a cotei transferurilor în ruble ruseşti cu 9.6 puncte procentuale, până la 33.6 la sută. Concomitent, cota transferurilor în EUR a scăzut cu 2.0 puncte procentuale, până la 35.1 la sută, iar a celor în dolari SUA – cu 7.6 puncte procentuale, până la 31.3 la sută.
Din punctul de vedere al provenienţei geografice, transferurile de mijloace băneşti din străinătate în favoarea persoanelor fizice au avut următoarea distribuţie: transferurile din Rusia au constituit ponderea majoră de 68.0 la sută (în creştere cu 2.4 puncte procentuale în comparaţie cu anul 2012), din Italia – 9.3 la sută (în creştere cu 0.2 puncte procentuale), din Israel – 6.3 la sută (în creştere cu 0.9 puncte procentuale), din SUA – 4.8 la sută (în decreştere cu 0.1 puncte procentuale), din Franţa – 1.3 la sută (aceeaşi pondere ca şi în anul 2012). De menţionat că transferurile din aceste cinci ţări reprezintă 89.7 la sută din total.
Banca Naţională a Moldovei atrage atenţia asupra faptului că transferurile de mijloace băneşti din străinătate efectuate în favoarea persoanelor fizice prin intermediul băncilor nu constau doar din remiterile cetăţenilor Republicii Moldova ce lucrează peste hotare, ci includ şi astfel de transferuri unilaterale, precum: pensii, indemnizaţii, moşteniri, cadouri, diverse contribuţii primite de persoane fizice de peste hotare. De remarcat că aici nu se includ transferurile efectuate prin intermediul băncilor din raioanele din partea stângă a Nistrului, ceea ce face dificilă compararea statisticii BNM cu statistica altor ţări.
