NBM puts into circulation the coin “Martisor – symbol of spring”

Strating from 1 March 2024, the National Bank of Moldova puts the coin “Martisor – symbol of spring” into circulation for numismatic purposes, thereby completing the series “Holidays, Culture, Traditions of Moldova”.

On this occasion, Anca Dragu, the Governor of the NBM, expressed that the issuance of this coin aims to emphasize the significance of Martisor.

“I encourage you to embrace the significance of this unique symbol, a shared heritage that holds immense value. Today, the NBM presents a distinctive Martisor to you. It is more than merely a piece of precious metal. The Martisor is inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Our aspiration is that this coin brings you joy and reminds you of the beauty and richness embedded in our nation's traditions”, says Anca Dragu.

The commemorative coin is minted in silver, has a colour design, and a mintage of 1200 units.

It is packed in transparent methacrylate capsule and care package, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity featuring a QR code, which upon scanning redirects to the website of the National Bank of Moldova, providing information about the coin’s characteristics. The certificate of authenticity is signed by the Governor of the National Bank of Moldova.

Commemorative and jubilee coins, along with other numismatic items issued by the National Bank of Moldova, are available for trading through licensed banks.
