National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.
National Bank shall have the exclusive right to issue on the territory of the Republic of Moldova banknotes and coins as legal tender, as well as commemorative and jubilee banknotes and coins as legal tender and for numismatic purposes.
National Bank is exclusively responsible for the licencing, supervision and regulation of financial institutions activity.
National Bank of Moldova acts as banker and fiscal agent of the State and shall receive from state bodies economic and financial information and documents, which are necessary for carrying out its tasks.

1. Se menține rata de bază aplicată la principalele operațiuni de politică monetară pe termen scurt la nivelul actual de 6.5% anual.
2. Se mențin ratele de dobândă:
- la creditele overnight la nivelul actual de 9.5% anual;
- la depozitele overnight la nivelul actual de 3.5% anual.
3. Se menține norma rezervelor obligatorii din mijloace atrase în lei moldovenești și în valută neconvertibilă la nivelul actual de 40.0% din baza de calcul.
4. Se menține norma rezervelor obligatorii din mijloace atrase în valută liber convertibilă la nivelul actual de 14.0% din baza de calcul.
Decizia a fost luată în baza celor mai recente analize macroeconomice și a ajustării prognozei inflației pe termen mediu.
Menținerea ratei de bază la nivelul actual este determinată de presiunile dezinflaționiste care vor persista în perioada imediată, însă urmată de o inversare a tendințelor începând cu trimestrul IV al anului curent. Creșterea economică, deși se va poziționa în proximitatea potențialului, va genera în continuare presiuni dezinflaționiste.
Conform așteptărilor, rata anuală a inflației în luna aprilie 2018 a consemnat 3.7% și va ieși în luna mai curent din intervalul de variație a țintei.
Evaluarea și cuantificarea riscurilor asociate perspectivei inflației denotă, în general, valabilitatea prognozei publicate în luna mai 2018.
Cu toate acestea, au fost identificați noi factori care s-au conturat după runda de prognoză publicată în luna mai 2018 și care vor contribui la o deviere nesemnificativă a traiectoriei pe termen scurt a inflației de la prognoză. Astfel, amânarea modificării tarifului la energia electrică în trimestrul curent a determinat o traiectorie superioară a prețurilor reglementate în trimestrul II 2018. Aceasta se va inversa în a doua parte a anului 2018 datorită unei diminuări anticipate mai pronunțate a tarifului în trimestrul următor. Totodată, riscurile asociate creșterii peste așteptări a prețurilor internaționale la petrol pot genera presiuni inflaționiste in anul 2019, care se vor reflecta într-o posibilă ajustare mai pronunțată a tarifelor în anul viitor.
Următoarea ședință a Comitetului executiv al BNM cu privire la politica monetară va avea loc pe data de 26 iulie 2018, conform calendarului publicat.
