National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

Comitetul executiv al Băncii Naționale a Moldovei (BNM) a decis, cu vot unanim, să mențină rata de bază aplicată la principalele operațiuni de politică monetară pe termen scurt la nivelul de 5,5 la sută anual. Totodată, rămân neschimbate ratele de dobândă la creditele și depozitele overnight de 8,5 la sută și, respectiv, 2,5 la sută anual. În același timp, norma rezervelor obligatorii se va aplica în continuare conform hotărârii din luna decembrie 2019.
Decizia de astăzi a fost luată în baza noii prognoze a inflației, care confirmă veridicitatea prognozelor anterioare și, în special, a pus în evidență corectitudinea hotărârii de luna trecută. Efectul măsurilor de politică monetară adoptate atunci urmează să se propage având ca reper perioada de timp necesară transmiterii impulsului către economia reală.
Actualmente se atestă o traiectorie descendentă a inflației, care poate să ajungă în afara intervalului de variație de ± 1,5 p.p. de la țintă, la începutul anului viitor. Riscurile dezinflationsite continuă să persiste, fiind posibile, în acest an, și riscuri meteo cu efect proinflaționist. Astfel, reluarea măsurilor de relaxare a politicii monetare va depinde de materializarea riscurilor asociate procesului inflaționist, de datele efective aferente dinamicii inflației în trimestrul I curent, precum și de evoluțiile economiei naționale.
La baza adoptării deciziei de astăzi au stat evaluările celor mai recente informații macroeconomice din mediul intern și extern și asumările luate în calcul la elaborarea noii runde de prognoză, alături de perspectivele condițiilor economice interne.
BNM va monitoriza și va anticipa în continuare evoluțiile macroeconomice interne și cele externe, riscurile și incertitudinile asociate evoluției inflației pe termen scurt și mediu, astfel încât, prin aplicarea la momentul oportun a instrumentelor de politică monetară să asigure menținerea stabilității prețurilor.
Următoarea ședință a Comitetului executiv al BNM cu privire la politica monetară va avea loc pe 4 martie 2020, conform calendarului publicat.
