National Bank and the members of its decision-making bodies shall be independent in exercising the tasks conferred upon them by law, and shall neither seek nor take instructions from public authorities or from any other authority.
In order to ensure and maintain price stability over the medium term, the National Bank’s aim will be to keep inflation (measured by Consumer Price Index) at the level of 5.0 percent annually with a possible deviation of ± 1.5 percentage points, considered to be optimal for growth and development of Moldova's economy over the medium-term.

Comitetul executiv al Băncii Naționale a Moldovei (BNM) a decis astăzi într-o ședința extraordinară, cu vot unanim, să mențină la același nivel rata de bază aplicată la principalele operațiuni de politică monetară pe termen scurt: 2,65 la sută anual.
De asemenea, rămân neschimbate ratele de dobândă la creditele și depozitele overnight: 5,15 la sută și, respectiv, 0,15 la sută anual.
Totodată, normele rezervelor obligatorii din mijloacele atrase în lei moldovenești și în valută neconvertibilă au fost diminuate cu 2,0 puncte procentuale până la 28,0 la sută din baza de calcul, iar norma rezervelor obligatorii din mijloacele atrase în valută liber convertibilă se menține la nivelul actual de 30,0 la sută din baza de calcul.
Decizia respectivă continuă șirul de măsuri ale BNM pentru atenuarea impactului pandemiei și susține relansarea economiei prin impulsionarea cererii agregate. De asemenea, BNM sprijină trendul ascendent al activității de creditare, asigurând suficiența de lichidități adecvate în acest scop, cu diminuarea costurilor de creditare în susținerea mediului de afaceri. Sprijinul este necesar și pentru a evita efectul „crowding out” odată cu creșterea cererii de finanțare din partea Ministerului de Finanțe.
La baza acestei hotărâri au stat analiza și evaluarea informațiilor asociate lichidității excesive în sistemul bancar. Astfel, după ce luna trecută a fost diminuată cu 2 puncte procentuale norma rezervelor obligatorii din mijloacele atrase în lei moldovenești și în valută neconvertibilă, nivelul lichidităților s-a majorat până la 7,1 miliarde lei la data de 16 martie a. c ., însă ulterior s-a diminuat încontinuu si a atins nivelul de 3,4 miliarde lei la ziua de astăzi. Această diminuare s-a produs, îndeosebi, pe seama achitării către stat a impozitelor de către agenții economici.
BNM subliniază necesitatea monitorizării continue a situației macroeconomice și la momentul oportun, fără a prejudicia obiectivul său fundamental, va veni cu măsurile necesare în susținerea unui sistem bancar viabil și stabil.
Următoarea ședință a Comitetului executiv al BNM cu privire la politica monetară va avea loc pe 30 aprilie 2021, conform calendarului publicat.
