The Republic of Moldova celebrated its sports champions at the 2025 Olympic Dinner, a traditional event organized by the National Olympic and Sports Committee (NOSC), which took place last night, 29 January 2025, at the Palace of the Republic. The Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Anca Dragu, who was among the distinguished guests, delivered a speech of appreciation and in recognition of the efforts and success of Moldovan athletes, she presented commemorative coins from the "Sport" series, recently issued to honor the outstanding performances of Moldovan athletes.
"Since the beginning of 2024, we have been planning to mint commemorative coins in honor of sports, to recognize the monumental work and dedication of these champions. We also aim to update this series so that other medal-winning sports are represented. The performances of our athletes are proof of aspirations towards excellence and the collective spirit of perseverance, selflessness, and tenacity. We are proud of you and of the way in which you carry Moldova's name to the highest international podiums", said Anca Dragu at the event.
In her speech, Anca Dragu emphasized that the NBM operates like a sports team - with discipline, strategy, and a desire to achieve the best results.
As the mother of a football player who has attended hundreds of matches on her feet, I know what the effort, determination, and sacrifice of an athlete truly mean. I bow in respect and admiration to you. You are an inspiration to us all", the Governor added.
The Olympic Dinner is an annual event that marks the founding day of the National Olympic and Sports Committee (NOSC) and brings to the forefront members of Team Moldova, top athletes, coaches, officials, and personalities who contribute to the development of sports in the Republic of Moldova.
