Working meeting with representatives of savings and loan associations

The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) held two working meetings chaired by the Governor Anca Dragu on 23-24 April 2024 with representatives of savings and loan associations holding category B license and, the Central National Association of Savings and Credit Associations.

The discussions focused on key aspects of the associations' activities, with an emphasis on risk management and compliance with the normative acts in force. The necessary actions and obligations arising from compliance with the current regulatory framework were also mentioned.  Another priority topic was exploring opportunities to strengthen the activity, regulation and supervision of the sector, with the NBM encouraging the active involvement of associations in the legislative development process.

“These meetings underline the NBM's continued commitment to improve collaboration with supervised entities and to support the development of a robust and transparent financial environment. The central bank's initiatives are directed towards creating a predictable regulatory and supervisory framework for the benefit of the entire financial system and market participants. The NBM expects positive results that will contribute to the stability and integrity of the financial system,” said Anca Dragu.

The activity of entities in the non-banking sector is regulated and supervised by the National Bank of Moldova as of 1 July 2023, when some powers from the National Commission for Financial Markets were transferred to the central bank.
